On 31 March 2011 Northern Ireland’s award-winning science centre W5 will celebrate 10 years of scientific fun and discovery and to mark the occasion W5 is offering a golden opportunity for communities across Northern Ireland to benefit from W5’s resources and learn about science in a unique and exciting way.

 

With the support of the Belfast Telegraph W5 is offering the opportunity for charities, community groups and local organisations to apply for one of 10 “Golden Tickets” which will allow complementary access to W5 for a whole year from 31 March 2011-2012. The main criteria for applying is that the Golden Ticket must benefit those who would not normally have access to W5 and who can demonstrate the difference regular visits to W5 can make to the lives of the children in the group. From the applications received a panel will select 10 lucky winners to become Golden Ticket holders. These tickets are valid on any day of the year W5 is open and will allow up to 12 members of the group FREE admission to the venue.

 

According to Dr Sally Montgomery OBE, Chief Executive of W5  “We are now approaching our tenth birthday.  Since 31 March 2001 we have enjoyed 10 amazing years of scientific fun and discovery and over the past decade we have had fantastic support from the public, schools, businesses and local communities to help W5 to achieve our goals. The Golden Ticket will help us to reach out to those who would really benefit from a year long pass but may find it hard to meet the financial commitment to ensure they too can enjoy W5.”

 

The deadline for entries is Friday 25 February and the 10 charities / community groups / organisations selected will receive their Golden Ticket at W5’s 31 March celebrations.
