     Situated in Bedford Street in Belfasts City Centre, The Ulster Hall

     has just reopened on the 6th March 2009 after a 2 year refurbishment

     programme costing £8.5 million.

 

     The Hall originally opened on the 12th May 1862 and was purchased in

     1902 by  Belfast City Council for £13,500.

 

 

 

    As well as refitting and redecorating the main auditorium, the metal balcony balustrade has been restored to its original

    style, new roof and floors and there is now a moveable stage extension.

    The hall which has been home to performers from Charles Dickens to The Rolling Stones and  from Barry McGuigan to

    Led Zepplin , who by the way performed for the very first time anywhere their famous track Stairway to Heaven.

     The Hall now becomes home to The Ulster Orchestra.
