        St Georges Market

 

   Voted many times as one of the best markets in both

   the UK and Ireland.

   There has been a market held on this site for over 400 years,

   with the present market being here since the early 1890s.

   Friday between 6am and 1pm is the Variety Market, with

   nearly 250 stalls. You can browse through the stalls selling

   meat and fish, fruit and vegetables, clothes, books, antiques

   and much more.

   On Saturday between 9am and 3pm it is the Food and Garden

   Market. There will be lots of locally produced food, cheese, eggs

   fresh flowers and plants, as well as a taste of continental food,

   which is equally popular.

   You can sit and have a coffee and enjoy the atmosphere and

   there will usually be entertainment such as a jazz band playing.

   There is a free shuttle bus running to and  from the city centre

   every 20 minutes from 8am to 12.50 pm on Friday and from

   9am to 2.50 on Saturday.
